Register for Youth | Participation | Impact conference

From 2 to 4 September 2015 in Samuel Alexander Building

Organised in partnership by Article 26, Retrak, Safe Child Africa and members of the School of Environment, Education and Development, the conference aims to bring together practitioners, organisations, academics, donors and policy makers to engage in discussions that will shape research and practice that aims to inform social policy engagement to address poverty and social justice for marginalised children and young people locally, nationally and globally.

Key note speakers include: 

  • Professor Erica Burman, The University of Manchester
  • Ann Coffey, Member of Parliament for Stockport
  • Sarah Thomas de Benitez, CEO of the Consortium for Street Children

Also scheduled are workshops exploring youth leadership, measuring impact, and monitoring and evaluation of projects with Eleanor Harrison from Global Giving UK, Nicola Sansom from SALVE International, Alex Sporidou from Young People's Support Foundation, Emilie Secker from Safe Child Africa and Paul Kelly from Lancaster University.

The presentations cover a range of issues affecting children and youth locally and globally, including education and conflict; capabilities and employment, youth participation in policy making; child trafficking; care leavers; reuniting refugee families; seeking asylum and accessing further education; street-connectedness.
