Join a guided walk from Piccadilly to campus on Give Your Car a Rest Day

15 Jun 2015

If you are planning to arrive by train at Piccadilly on 19 June, why not take part in this guided walk to the University?

Vanessa Cowan with the Lunchtime Strollers

Friday, 19 June – one of the University’s busiest open days - has been designated as Give Your Car a Rest Day, when our staff are being encouraged and supported to try out more sustainable forms of travel, with the aim of freeing up car park spaces for visitors and creating the best possible impression of the campus.

If you are trying the train for the first time, or are a regular train user who would like some company on your walk to the Oxford Road campus, then join Vanessa Cowan for a morning stroll on 19 June. Vanessa is a Walking for Health leader and leads the Lunchtime Strollers on walks from the campus several times a week.

There is no charge to take part, but you will need to book your place at:

There's also still time to get one week's free train travel from Northern Rail, who are keeping this offer open until 30 June for any of our car park permit holders who plan to take part in Give Your Car a Rest Day.

To register your interest, simply send an email with ‘University of Manchester’ in the subject line to:
