Jemma’s tribute to mother-in-law

11 Jun 2015

Half marathon to raise money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice

University colleague Jemma Fielding is running a half marathon to raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Oldham, which looked after her mother-in-law Susan Karran before she died of brain cancer.

Jemma, a Postgraduate Administrator in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, believes it will be a fitting tribute: “Before she became too ill, she donated her valuable time once a week to the hospice by providing entertainment for the residents through bingo games and was a friendly face to a lot of the residents there.

“She and her close family were looked after amazingly by the staff and they still receive offers of support now. I am sure she would want us to continue to support the charity in any way we can.”

Jemma will be taking part in the Freckleton Half Marathon with her husband and three friends on Sunday, 21 June.
