Come and discover how our University helped make the modern world

28 Aug 2014

Did you know that there are regular historical tours of the campus?

A campus tour in progress

Our heritage tours lead visitors around some of the University's oldest and most architecturally significant buildings whilst telling the history of the University's origins in rapidly industrialising Manchester.

The tour moves around the campus to explore how ideas and discoveries at the University shaped the modern world.

It discusses how scientific advances at the University helped our local and national economy, how nuclear physics began with the splitting of the atom on campus and the foundations of modern computing were laid in the building in the building almost next door.
