Andrew, 30, who lives in Salford, was unseeded at the event and was only expected to reach the final 16 (his 2013 result). He was the only remaining British player in the semi finals after beating Vladislav Kutsenko of Russia in the quarter finals 2-0 and top 60 in the world table tennis sponge bat player Lubomir Pistej of Slovakia 2-0.

Andrew is now top four in the world at ping pong (sandpaper bat) after dropping only one set throughout the Championship.
