The Staff Survey team took the Gold award in the CIPR PRide Awards for the North West for the campaign to encourage staff to complete the Staff Survey earlier this year.

The campaign resulted in 71% of eligible staff taking part – a massive increase on the 23% who took part in the survey in 2010.

It featured a ‘speech bubble’ design and was rolled out across posters, StaffNet, Twitter, email signatures and presentations to senior leadership teams.

The work was carried out by the Communications and Marketing Division, working in conjunction with the Staff Survey Steering Group.

Martin Humphries, Chair of the Staff Survey Steering Group, commented: "The synergy between members of our team, and their individual commitment and creativity, were instrumental in achieving a phenomenal increase in response to the survey. I look forward to seeing this hard work translate into an improvement in the work experience for University of Manchester staff."

Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Will Spinks said: “I’d like to congratulate our team for all their efforts, which were both creative and energetic, and their well deserved win.”

Rachael McGraw, Internal Communications Manager for the University said: “We were set a tough target to increase the response rate for this survey, but we rose to the challenge and worked as a team to make sure that we produced a creative campaign which caught people’s imaginations.

“I’m really pleased for everyone involved that our hard work has been recognised by the CIPR.”

Work is now underway on developing a new campaign to show how things are changing at the University as a result of the survey action plans.
