Urban Naturalist: Spring wild food forage

17 May 2013

Event for adults on Saturday, 25 May (2-4pm) at Manchester Museum.

May is a wonderfully rich time of year for anyone interested in finding wild foods for free. There are still a number of edible tender leaves and shoots to be found, and there is more than a splash of colour to be seen from many of our edible flowers which are bursting through.

At this time of year you can really sense the transition between spring and summer happening so unsurprisingly it's a great time for finding the tail end of the spring fungi, and the onset of the summertime varieties, so with some luck (and a little rain!) we may just find some excellent edible wild mushrooms too. With Jesper Lauder, in association with Cracking Good Food.

Urban Naturalist is a series of friendly, practical workshops run by leading naturalists. From wild food-foraging and composting to bird song and insect identification, explore biodiversity on our doorstep.
