9th October – The Boobee Bus (with Prevent Breast Cancer)

Bridgeford Street, 10am – 4pm

Prevent Breast Cancer will be bringing their Boobee bus on campus on this day. “On board the bus will be our very own“BooBees” who will be distributing our “Bee Aware” information and encouraging women to come on board to find out more about breast health.  Also on board will be a specialist breast cancer nurse to give advice and to answer any specific concerns.” Free – drop in.

Wednesday 16th October - Menopause events

Research also shows that the majority of women are unwilling to discuss menopause related health problems with their line managers, or ask for any support they may need.  Here at the University of Manchester, we’re passionate about the wellbeing of our colleagues and that means talking about menopause openly. On 16th October, we’re holding menopause awareness sessions with Sally Leech from Henpicked:

Session 1 – All staff

University Place, Lecture Theatre A, 12:00 - 13:00

What do you know about the menopause? Are you, a member of your family, friend or colleague experiencing menopause and want to know more? This session covers what menopause is, its symptoms, ways of managing them, thinking about long term health and where help is available. It’s open to women and men.  Book here for staff event.

Session 2 - For HR partners, Line Managers and Wellbeing Champions

University Place, Lecture Theatre A, 13:30 - 14:15

We’ll focus on the importance of menopause at the University of Manchester and how we can support our colleagues. Including why we’re talking about menopause now, what menopause is, its symptoms and how to provide the right support. Book here.

Wednesday 23rd October - Breast Cancer Screening Drop-in

UMSA room, Simon Building, 12.00 – 2.00pm.

Drop in for questions and information on breast cancer advice and support from the Greater Manchester Lead for breast cancer screening. (For men and women)
