'Take a Moment' campaign launched to increase belonging, inclusion and respect in SEED

14 Nov 2025

As part of our School commitment to building an environment where everyone feels a true sense of belonging, value and respect, we're asking all staff to 'take a moment' to consider if everyone is included and to think about whose voices aren't being heard.

Earlier this year we asked SEED staff to complete a short survey about their experiences of influence, respect and being heard within the School. Whilst many survey respondents reported that they do usually feel able to speak up and influence decisions, a substantial number of colleagues reported either that they had experienced issues themselves or observed that sometimes women and colleagues from a minoritised group have been treated differently.

In response to these findings, we're asking all staff to take a moment in their day-to-day activities to consider:

  • Has everyone been included?
  • Whose voice isn’t being heard?
  • Are we only listening to ideas from certain people or groups?
  • Is one voice or opinion drowning out others?
  • Is the meeting fully inclusive?

You'll see posters around our three buildings encouraging you to take a moment. You can also download posters to put up yourself and/or download slides to add your presentation pack as a visual reminder to colleagues. We're also asking all colleagues to familiarise themselves with our inclusive meeting guidance.

We're also asking colleagues to sign up for our active bystander training, which will give you the skills and confidence to take action if you see someone being harassed, discriminated against or excluded.
