SEED seeks to appoint a new Associate Director of Research Ethics, starting 1 August, 2025. Deadline for Expressions of Interest is 2 May, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
SEED seeks to appoint one new Associate Director of Research Ethics, to work alongside Dr Helen Zheng, the other Associate Director of Research: Ethics. The two Associate Directors for Research: Ethics work together to provide academic leadership and operational management for SEED’s Ethics Committee, ensuring compliance with The University of Manchester’s ethical approval processes for human research. The role involves overseeing ethical review structures, training staff and students, liaising with the University’s Research Governance team, and representing SEED at the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC).
Each of the Associate Director of Research: Ethics roles attracts 2000 workload points. Representation on UREC is an expectation of each role and carries an additional 700 workload points for each Associate Director.
The start date for the post is 1st August 2025. This is a three-year appointment, with the possibility to extend.
The deadline to submit expressions of interest is 2nd May 2025.

Expressions of Interest should consist of a brief up to date CV with a covering letter of up to 500 words, outlining your suitability for the role and what you would like to achieve if appointed.
Candidate applications will be reviewed by a panel and shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview. The interview will often consist of a presentation and some questions to enable the panel to ascertain suitability for the position. The panel will always include members of SLT.
