The ongoing improvements to the Humanities Bridgeford Street (HBS) building and Long Term Maintenance (LTM) project have undergone a reset to align the remodelling of the building and the provision of decant spaces into a single, cohesive project.
This decision ensures greater consistency for building users and improves the overall delivery timeline of the project.
A new timeline of project milestones is being determined by the central Estates team. Alternative decant solutions are also being explored, with the decanting process not starting any earlier than early 2026.
The Estates team will be working with the School’s leadership team and the Compliance, Safety and Estates (CSE) team to develop the project further.

The refurbishment work to the PGCE corridor in the Ellen Wilkinson (EW) building has also recently started, and is due to be completed in early June. The refurbishment will create a more engaging and functional space for all students and staff, including improved meeting spaces and technology, an open plan social area and a wellbeing room.
The first phase of the works in EW involves demolishing the corridor walls, which has resulted in some noise disruption over the past few weeks. We understand the impact this may have on staff and students and are working closely with the building and estates teams to minimise it as much as possible. A visual of the current refurbishment works can be seen at the top of this article.
We will provide regular updates to help you plan and prepare for any disruptions.
