Promote your work
You've worked hard on your research, and now it's time for it to be published. How can you make the most of this opportunity?
There are lots of quick and simple things you can do yourself and dedicated teams at The University of Manchester can also help you reach new audiences (such as charities, policymakers, businesses, and the general public), putting your research in front of the people who need to see it most.
External promotion of your research can advance scientific knowledge, help attract new PhD students and funding and create opportunities to speak at conferences and work with start-ups. Increased awareness within academic circles can also lead to more citations and collaborations:
- Watch the Town Hall recording with Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research; Alison Fairclough, Head of Business Intelligence; and Scott Taylor, Head of Library Research Services and The Office for Open Research.
- Read Viewpoint blog: Global rankings and how to improve citations-based performance.
We have developed guidance and checklists for researchers to help promote their work. There's no one-size-fits-all approach, so reach out at any stage of your research. New information will be added regularly, so check back often.
