Healthy Volunteers needed to walk on a smart carpet

Description

What is a smart carpet?

Here, at the University of Manchester we have developed a novel floor sensor system to sense gait with optical fibres technology.

We are currently looking for healthy adults between 20 to 70 years of age to volunteer in a supervised walking experiment.

The sessions will be individual and will last around 30 minutes, when participants will walk (with interruptions) on the floor sensor at floor level.

Who is NOT eligible to take part in the study?

1) Individuals that have reported a fall within 6 months time-frame. A fall is defined as an unexpected contact with a floor surface.

2) Individuals with any of the following conditions: acute illnesses, major depression, or history of stroke. Or any illness that would diminish their normal, walking ability.

There will be water and modest snacks available during the experiments and you will be compensated for your time.
