Supporting Programme Directors

Programme Directors are integral to the success of our students. One of our priority projects is to work with Programme Directors to deliver clear improvements that make things better for and support Programme Directors so they feel confident, supported and enabled to deliver. 

Our approach

Underpinning this work is a human-centred design approach. In practice, this means listening to what Programme Directors are telling us about the challenges they face and what support would make a difference, co-creating and testing solutions with Programme Directors, learning together, and ensuring anything we develop makes an impact. 

What we've done so far? 

In January and February 2026, we spoke to 35 Programme Directors from across the University - from varying disciplines, programme sizes, levels of study - to develop our understanding of what's working, what isn't and where further support and development would be beneficial. This insight has helped us to identify opportunities where we can better support Programme Directors and to understand what we need to prioritise.

Outputs

We wanted to share what we’ve created so far. Some of these outputs are still evolving and very much work in progress.
