Connecting with your students and accessing ‘the student voice’
23 January 2025, 12-1pm
Enhancing how we hear ‘the student voice’ has recently become a priority for the University. If we are to create a dynamic environment for teaching it is important that we find ways to involve our students. Maintaining a close connection with your students can also help in sustaining your energy and commitment as a member of staff. This session will give colleagues an opportunity to share ideas with each other about ways to connect with students.
Taking your scholarship of teaching to the next level
26 February 2025, 12-1pm
The new criteria for promotion of academic staff on teaching and scholarship contracts highlights the importance of evidence-based systematic practice that positively impacts student outcomes or experience and is disseminated for critical review and, where appropriate, adoption by others. This session provides an occasion for colleagues to share ideas about ways to catalyse such activity, whether by framing projects, taking a sabbatical, securing funding or so on.
Using Canvas to introduce innovations into teaching, learning and assessment
27 March 2025, 12-1pm
The University is introducing a new virtual learning environment from September 2025 onwards. This session will give colleagues an opportunity to exchange ideas with each other about ways to take advantage of the changeover of VLEs to introduce innovations into teaching, learning and assessment.
*CANCELLED* Making room for service-learning, placements, client-focused interactions and case studies
1 May 2025, 12-1pm
Students gain a great deal from learning in applied settings. The grand challenges of this century, after all, are primarily about a world that lies beyond the confines of a campus. This session will give colleagues an opportunity to exchange ideas about how to develop the applied dimension to their teaching.
