Event programme 2023/24

SEED Teaching Innovation Collective programme Semester 1 2023-24

The SEED Teaching Innovation Collective is intended to provide a means for colleagues to support each other in framing innovations in teaching and learning. Social impact of any kind relies heavily on people joining together.

For this semester, the collective will make use of the World Café workshop format, action learning consultations and group-based speed networking. Some additional time will be allowed for networking at the end of each session. The World Café format involves several rounds of discussion focused on specific questions in small groups of 4 or 5 people, along with plenary reporting.

Follow the Collective on Eventbrite and sign up for alerts on new events.

Get support and views from colleagues on your teaching innovation

Tuesday, 12 December, 11.30am - 1pm

Hanson Room, Humanities Bridgeford Street

Would you like some input from colleagues on how you might take a teaching innovation forward? This session will follow the step-back consultation model; the person in the hot-seat presents to a small group of colleagues for 5 minutes on a teaching innovation for which the presenter is responsible, fields questions for 5 minutes, and then listens for 15 minutes to comments from their colleagues on taking forward the innovation. A final 5 minutes is available for the presenter to respond to the ideas. Time is available for two sets of consultations.

Thursday, 18 January 2024, 2pm - 3.30pm

Hanson Room, Humanities Bridgeford Street

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to shift practice in teaching, learning and assessment across the university. This session will help you to stay at the forefront of this wave of innovation. A second set of discussions will consider how to formulate educational tasks that are suited to being assisted by generative AI.

Facilitating teaching innovation and course-unit refresh in SEED

Thursday, 25 April, 1-2pm

Room 2.219, University Place

Would you be more likely to propose a teaching innovation on your course unit if the process of introducing a change was supported more effectively? During this session, colleagues will have an opportunity to discuss with each other in small groups their experience of introducing teaching innovations within the School. In addition, they will be able to contribute ideas towards the development of new approaches in SEED to teaching innovation and course-unit modification. The session will include a perspective from Juup Stelma, SEED Director of Teaching, Learning and Students on current processes to support teaching innovation and to approve modifications to course units within the School, and how these might be enhanced. You are welcome to post any ideas in advance of the session on the SEED Teaching Innovation Padlet.
