Will has led on the development of the new Optometry MSci course which has included three significant innovations - Welcome Month, Team Based Learning and the use of Entrustable Professional Activities within a coherent approach to developing belonging, engagement and professional identity formation. The EPAs have replaced the stress of high stakes clinical assessments while helping students to identify gaps in performance and improve week on week, and the improvement in students’ abilities has been noted by volunteers, clinical supervisors and external partners.

His leadership has had a significant impact on the course, and his work is influencing practice elsewhere within the university and beyond.
