Pietro Paolo Frigenti (Alliance Manchester Business School) for Inclusive education and Student voice

Pietro’s work is strongly student-centred, investigating significant and contemporary student concerns including groupwork, belonging/loneliness, issues around EDI challenges and preparation for the world of work.

Over the last 3 years Pietro secured funding for three pedagogic projects, each responding directly to needs his students had articulated:

(1) a co-created study on group work, belonging, and student voice, where Pietro and a student co-designed the research, interviewed peers, and co-presented the findings at the university’s Teaching and Learning Conference (2024).

(2) through the use of ‘Bodyswaps’ immersive virtual-reality platform, students experienced simulated workplace scenarios involving microaggressions and non-inclusive behaviour, giving them a safe space to practise responses before encountering those situations professionally

(3) Breaking the Audio Barrier - a student-led podcast - gives students a platform to speak openly about loneliness, belonging, and hidden disabilities in their own words.
