Hannah Wilkinson (School of Environment, Education & Development) for Assessment and feedback

Hannah was Commended for a number of recent pedagogic interventions centred around enhancing students’ experiences of assessment and feedback.  Built around the principles of Self-Regulated Learning (Zimmerman, 2002), these carefully-planned and evaluated projects embedded a range of activities to support students with the planning and writing of their assessments and encouraging engagement with high quality feed-forward feedback.  An assignment checklist and peer marking projects aimed to support students’ confidence and understanding of assessment requirements, while other projects encouraged students to actively engage with feedback and generate feed-forward lessons to apply to future assessments.  The project evaluations measured positive improvements to both student learning experience and an increased student grade average.
