Aurelie Le Normand (School of Natural Sciences) for Educational leadership and Inclusive education

Aurelie’s case demonstrated a sustained record of educational leadership through the development of inclusive, collaborative communities of practice that enhance teaching and learning across her discipline, Faculty, and the wider University. Over the past five years, Aurelie has led initiatives that support large and diverse student cohorts, strengthen teaching practice, and create more consistent, accessible, and engaging learning environments. This work aligns closely with the University of Manchester’s priorities around inclusive education, student belonging, and social responsibility. Aurelie has led the development of shared approaches to digital learning that have improved consistency and accessibility across programmes, while supporting staff to adopt inclusive and effective teaching practices. Inclusive teaching is central to her leadership. In response to student feedback, she co-developed blended community spaces to improve communication, peer connection, and belonging, contributing to strengthened student voice and engagement. This work has expanded into cross-faculty initiatives and been shared through conferences and publication. Aurelie’s leadership also extends to postgraduate and staff development through mentoring, structured peer support, and co-created inclusive teaching initiatives. Together, this work has fostered sustainable communities of practice that enhance confidence, collaboration, and teaching quality, with impact at programme, faculty, and institutional level.
