Data Requests

There are several ways in which Leaders, Operations, Partners, Compliance & Risk, People Leaders (line managers) and colleagues can access training and development data.

Where possible, the University are moving to a self-service model so they can access the data they need.

Self-service via the Training Catalogue Report

Not all data requests need to be obtained through Talent Development and much anonymous and non-anonymous data can be obtained through the Training Catalogue Report. This report can be accessed by Faculty, School or Department Operations colleagues; Compliance & Risk colleagues; People Partners; EDI Partners; colleagues working in within training and development teams across the University.

To request access to the Training Catalogue Report, please complete the below form. As the report provides both anonymous and non-anonymous data, reports requests will be cross-checked with a requesters line-manager.

Talent Development Data Requests

If you have a request for specific data from the Talent Development team, please complete the form below and a member of the team will be in touch. We can provide anonymised, aggregated data relating to staff group or Faculty/Area however we are unable to provide identifiable data with specific staff names. We will aim to deal with data requests within 10 working days.

If the data request is considered to be something that individuals should be able to source through local channels, or by the individual themselves, we will ensure the requester is connected to the relevant individual or access to the Training Catalogue Report is provided.

While every effort is made to ensure the reliability and accuracy of attendance data provided, there are several limitations and considerations to be noted:

  1. Where aggregated data results relate to less than 10 individuals, we will not be able to provide this due to it potentially being able to identify individuals. This breakdown would be omitted from any report provided.
  2. Attendance information is only reported for staff who are currently employed by the University. It does not include the programmes completed for any staff who have since left the University. Therefore, actual numbers who completed the programmes were higher than figures provided. Equally this means that if you request the same data on two separate occasions, you can expect that the figures will not be exact as some staff who completed the training may have left the University.
  3. Colleague information (Faculty/division, role type, protected characteristics) is sourced from a live link People staff records in Resource Link. The data we provide will show the employee’s current role or department, which may be different from when they completed the learning activity in their training record.

If you are a line manager

If you are a line manager needing to check the training records of your team, please ask them to provide you with this directly. We are unable to provide team training records through this process. Alternatively, you can ask your local Operations colleagues who have access to the Training Catalogue Report to provide this data for you.

Talent Development are working with colleagues to seek to find a solution so all line managers can access line reports training. We are hoping to be able to provide an update to this by summer 2026.

How to access your own training record

MyDevelopment

Since the introduction of Canvas and the MyDevelopment catalogue in October 2025, you can view all of the training and development you have completed via the MyDevelopment learner dashboard. This will provide you a list of all courses that are in progress and have completed, certificates you have obtained, and when courses will need to be refreshed.

You can download a transcript of all of your in progress and completed courses via selecting the PDF transcript button.

Training Catalogue

On the Training Catalogue, you are able to view a record of all the training you have undertaken since the beginning of your employment at the University. You can access this by navigating to the My Training and Development area of the Training Catalogue. You will be able to see a list of all of the courses you have completed historically. This list does not include any certificates.

The Training Catalogue allows you to export your training record to a Spreadsheet. To do this, click the ‘Export to Spreadsheet’ button located below the list of your training.
