Student Hubs

Background

Student Hubs will simplify and enhance the way that students access support services both on and off campus, making student support services more accessible and consistent for all students.

We currently provide student support services through a highly distributed model, with Departmental, School, Faculty and Central Services delivered across different parts of campus, which students report difficulties in navigating. Over the coming years we will transition away from this model towards School-based Hubs for all students and Faculty based Hubs to provide specialist services to postgraduate researchers, supported by improved digital services.

Hubs will act as meeting places through which queries are triaged and appointments are made, supported by a culture of ‘we go to the student’. Hubs won’t result in the co-location of entire TLSE or PGR teams and academic colleagues will continue to work with PS colleagues as they do now.

New organisational structures and job descriptions designed through Cohorts 2 and 3 of SEP will support the transition to Student Hubs, which is expected to take place from 2022/23.

The Student Hubs Project is progressing with a number of working groups identified which will allow us to begin understanding the detail of the current processes and also to collaborate with our students and staff to begin building our future hubs vision and service.
