When proposing an output in Pure, it is mandatory to provide a comment. Please follow the advice from your Faculty below on what information to supply.
Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health
A contribution statement based on the REF2021 criteria below, aligned to the journal contribution statement.
You should select at least one from both:
I contributed to the:
- Conception and design of the study,
- Organisation of the conduct of the study,
- Carrying out the study,
- Analysis and interpretation of study data
And
I:
- Helped draft the output
- Critiqued the output for important intellectual content
Faculty of Science and Engineering
For UOA9 (Physics) only, each submitted output where there are 15 or more authors and where the submitting member of staff is not the lead or corresponding author, submission must include an author contribution statement (100 word Maximum) in the Review Request Message box, including at least one element from:
The author made a substantial contribution to the:
- Conception and design of the study,
- Organisation of the conduct of the study,
- Carrying out the study,
- Analysis and interpretation of study data
And
The author:
- Helped draft the output
- Critiqued the output for important intellectual content
If a paper has 10 or more authors and you were the lead or corresponding author please add the statement “Lead Author” or “Corresponding Author” as appropriate.
For UoA11 (Computer Science) and UoA12 (Engineering) a significance statement was included in REF2021. As inclusion of these statements has not yet been confirmed for REF2029 we are not asking for these statements during this exercise.
Faculty of Humanities
Once selected, you should complete the ‘Reason for Review’ comment box. In a change from previous exercises, please only complete this section to provide additional information on the output, as would be required for a REF Panel. This includes
A 300-word ‘additional statement’ where:
The role of the researcher or the research process is not evident in the submitted output;
- The output is an edited book, anthology, or special journal issue where the author has made a demonstrable contribution to the research published (in addition to any chapter published in the same work) to clarify the nature of the individual’s research contribution.
OR:
A 100-word abstract for research outputs in languages other than English, to describe the content and nature of the work
