About the launch

As our University enters its third century, we asked everyone – colleagues, students, alumni and external stakeholders alike – to have their say about the kind of institution we want to be and the direction we want to take.

Our new vision and strategic plan uses these ideas and puts our people at the heart of what we do as we look forward into the next five years and beyond.

It contains ambition, building on areas of strength and established agendas. Delivery is already underway in some cases, whilst in others, fully delivering on our ambitions will require funding. This is a route to simplifying how we do things and what we prioritise.

We recognise that the vision and strategic plan will mean different things to different people and we don’t want to be too prescriptive - we appreciate that everyone has full diaries and it is important to keep this simple, and flexible to suit you.

We hope that this information gives leaders a basis to work from when considering how to embed the vision and strategic plan in their local area. The key messaging will help ensure there is a golden thread between what colleagues do day-to-day and the vision.

Launch day communications schedule

Our new vision and strategic plan will be shared at the Heads meeting on Tuesday, 7 January and then launched later in January 2020. 

Post-launch from February 2020 onwards

Over the next few months, we will be providing more detail on our plans for the core goals and themes. We will, of course, keep you updated.
