Master's and Further Study
There are many different reasons for students to study a master’s. They might be looking to continue studying a subject they love or they simply have a set career in mind that requires a master’s qualification or means they are more likely to be able to advance.
Graduates with a postgraduate qualification, are even more likely than those with an undergraduate degree to be employed, more likely to earn more, and more likely to be in a higher level of employment. Postgraduate courses are also more autonomous so masters students engage on their own a lot more. This develops new personal and professional skills, like independence, self-motivation, time management and more all of which can aid professional development.
The University Careers service has created a series of dedicated webpages to aid both academics and students in considering further study as part of their personal progression. The guidance covers areas such as:
- Choosing the right course
- What funding options are available
- How to prepare for interviews for postgraduate courses
- Enhancing and the benefits of PGT study on employability
