Quality, Standards, Design and Enhancement Committee (QSDE)

Remit

The Faculty of Humanities QSDE monitor all programme changes and proposals recommended by Schools, on behalf of the Faculty of Humanities Teaching and Learning Committee (HTLC), including new programmes, suspensions, withdrawals, and major amendments. This also includes quality monitoring of collaborative proposals for programmes delivered by partner institutions.

QSDE aims to maintain a viable, sustainable and high quality portfolio by maintaining a focus upon: 

  • Quality: The quality and coherence of the proposal. 
  • Standards: The meeting of appropriate university and external standards and regulations. 
  • Design: The extent to which the proposal has been designed to meets the intended requirements. 
  • Enhancement: The way in which the proposal enhances the quality of the student experience. 

Membership

Faculty QSDE meetings include the following members, however other stakeholders and Faculty members may attend by invitation.

  • Associate Dean Portfolio Development (Chair)  
  • UG/PGT Directors /Directors of Teaching & Learning for each School, or nominee (Internal Advisor) 
  • Faculty Teaching and Learning Officers (Education Development, Policy, Procedure and Practice) 
  • Faculty Marketing Manager / Faculty Marketing Officer 
  • Faculty Assistant eLearning Manager / Learning Designer 
  • Faculty Admissions Manager 
  • Faculty of Humanities Officer, Students’ Union 

Secretary: Faculty TLSE Co-ordinator

Meetings and reporting

Meetings are scheduled monthly throughout the teaching period. During each meeting, any items submitted are allocated a timeframe to be reviewed within the two hour allotted meeting time.

Items submitted to the Faculty QSDE for consideration must have first obtained approval from the School QSDE.

Matters for consideration are reported to the Faculty of Humanities Teaching and Learning Committee (HTLC).
