Masood Entrepreneurship Centre joins Unit M

As part of the delivery of Manchester 2035, the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre is aligning with Unit M to expand reach and accelerate impact.
To align with the University’s strategic priorities laid out in From Manchester for the World, the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) is joining with Unit M, the University’s innovation unit.
MEC supports thousands of students each year to develop transformative enterprise skills that enhance employability and career development, including cohorts of entrepreneurial students that establish innovative and impactful social and business ventures. MEC startup alumni at the forefront of innovation have secured over £100m investment over the last three years.
The MEC partnership with Unit M aims to further accelerate the University’s progress towards being “Europe's most inclusive and impactful innovation ecosystem”, providing greater opportunities to scale up the reach of MEC across the institution and position entrepreneurial thinking and training as a core proposition of the student experience at Manchester. MEC will retain its own brand, but this change will hopefully strengthen both its visibility and reach.
PS colleagues in MEC, currently located in AMBS, will be relocated to Unit M in William Kay House this summer. The University is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for colleagues and Lee Pugalis, Interim Director of MEC, will continue to lead the team. There are no planned changes to the existing team or structures.
Professor Ken McPhail, Head of AMBS, is in regular contact with MEC PS colleagues, who have been encouraged to help shape the move, and is currently working with the wider project team on next steps and a timeline of activity.
