What’s on during Sustainable Travel Week

Take part in events to celebrate the University’s Sustainable Travel Week.

To mark the University’s Sustainable Travel Week, the Environmental Sustainability team is running a series of events for staff, students and our local community from Tuesday, 14 October to Thursday, 16 October.

Tuesday, 14 October

Travel Fair: University Place, 10am–2pm
Join the University alongside the Bee Network, Halfords, Cycling UK, Northern Rail and more to discover how to make your journeys cheaper, greener and easier, from free bus routes and rail discounts to electric vehicle schemes and cycling perks. There is also the opportunity for active travellers to book a free physiotherapy appointment with UoM Sport.

5k group run: from Brunswick Park, 12-1pm
Take part in a group run – feel free to run, jog or walk!

Wednesday, 15 October

Ask a bike mechanic drop-in session: Students’ Union Basement, 11am-2pm
Join a drop-in bike maintenance workshop to learn how to fix a puncture, tune your gears or give your bike a quick check.

Group cycle rides: from Brunswick Park, 12-12.45pm or 1.30-2.15pm
Bring your bike and join a guided, beginner-friendly group cycle ride.

Thursday, 16 October

5-8k group run: from Denmark Road Sports Centre, 12-1pm
Join a sociable lunchtime run at a steady pace.

Historic Trees Tour: the Old Quad, 1-1.50pm
Take a guided tour and explore some of the oldest and most beautiful trees on campus.

Yoga for active travellers: The Wellbeing Studio, Simon Building, 2-3pm
Give your mind and body a boost by joining a group yoga session – a chance for active travellers to stretch and recharge.
