Canvas Confidence event success
18 Sep 2025
The Faculty’s eLearning team recently held a series of workshops, panel discussions and drop-ins to help colleagues get ready for the move to Canvas.
As part of ongoing support for academic and PS colleagues, the Faculty’s eLearning team organised a three-day Canvas Confidence event to help colleagues further develop their skills in using Canvas.
Staff from across the Faculty gathered in the Booth Street East building last week to take part in a series of workshops, listen to panel discussions and attend drop-in sessions where they were free to ask experienced eLearning staff any and all questions about the transition to Canvas. Workshops explored a number of topics, including how to build and structure your courses, how to ensure your content is accessible and how to get creative in Canvas.
There was also a variety of Canvas support material on offer, including a useful step-by-step guidebook to help colleagues as they build and publish courses in Canvas.
Stuart Phillipson, Faculty eLearning Manager, said: “We're really pleased with how the Canvas Confidence event went. Staff were able to access specialist eLearning knowledge and support and the team dealt with a vast array of different questions across the three days.
“I really feel the event achieved its aim of building staff confidence with Canvas as we move into the start of teaching. I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended and to the team for their planning, organisational, technical and pedagogical know-how!"
To help colleagues get ready for Blackboard switching off on Friday, 17 October, the eLearning team continue to offer a wide range of support on the Faculty’s Adopting Canvas SharePoint site, including training materials and expert advice. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the eLearning team.
