Canvas update: whole year and semester 2 course content migration
17 Jul 2025
An update on course migration from Blackboard to Canvas, and key resources to support the move.
Migration of course content for whole year and semester 2 courses from Blackboard to Canvas has now taken place and staff have been enrolled. Each course will now have the word 'MIGRATED' in the title, and there will also be a corresponding course with the same code and 2025/26 in the title. The latter area is where you will teach in the next academic year; it contains the template and students will be enrolled here.
You will need to identify relevant content and move it from the migrated area to the 2025/26 version of the course, using the template to scaffold your course. Please see the course migration and content advice on the Adopting Canvas SharePoint support site for further guidance.
As of Thursday, 10th July, across the three Humanities training courses on Canvas, we’ve seen 979 training slots booked. Further training slots are available and can be booked via the Canvas Training page. In Canvas itself, we can now see that 315 courses have begun the process of building their 2025/26 courses.
Please use of these resources and the expertise of our eLearning team to make sure you're fully prepared for the shift to Canvas. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Faculty eLearning team.
