Our Framework
Our EDI Framework, A Place Where You Matter, sets out our approach to embedding equity, diversity and inclusion across the University and supporting our ambitions for Manchester 2035.
The Framework marks a deliberate shift from ‘doing EDI’ through standalone initiatives to becoming an inclusive university by design and a fundamental part of how we work, make decisions and shape the experiences of our University community. It focuses on creating the conditions for meaningful and lasting change, with everyone having a part to play.
Our approach is structured around three interconnected pillars:
- Building fair foundations – embedding equity and inclusion within the foundations of our University, including our systems, policies, processes and ways of working.
- Advancing community and global justice – recognising our role in addressing inequalities and contributing to positive change within our University, our communities and wider society.
- Playing our part – empowering people across our University community to take responsibility for inclusion and contribute to meaningful change.
Together, these pillars provide a shared framework for action, helping us move towards a University where equity, diversity and inclusion are embedded in our everyday practice and where everyone can feel that they matter.
