Lecturer, Teaching and Scholarship in Medical Education for MBChB Medicine -Graduate Entry (GEM)

This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of the education team in the Division of Medical Education, contributing to the MBChB and PGT programmes; including teaching delivery and assessment, curriculum development and innovation, working with our international partnerships, working towards leadership positions. The successful applicant will have understanding of medical education and of Higher Education more generally.

The role will involve teaching four sessions per week (0.4 FTE), three years in first instance

Job Description and Person Spec

Lecturer for BIOL21141 Cell Membrane Structure and Function

There is an opportunity to deliver 3 lectures on the 2nd year unit BIOL21141 Cell Membrane Structure and Function. These lectures will be on membrane transporters (e.g. ions, small molecules).

The unit runs in Semester 3 and typically has ~200 students. In addition to delivering the 3 lectures, there will be exam question setting and marking responsibilities, as per normal for other undergraduate lecture units. The position is to be taken up at the beginning of the next academic year (2024/25).

Teaching Opportunity: Postgraduate Laboratory Skills Unit

The Laboratory Skills unit provides theoretical and hands-on experience of techniques used in both the wet and dry laboratory environment. The aim of the unit is to equip students with the theoretical understanding and practical skills relating to laboratory and computer-based biomedical techniques to enable them to undertake experimental research in the biomedical sciences.

We are looking to recruit a number of Postdoctoral Research Associates to support the students with their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the laboratory workshops.
