Important information
LEAP is accredited to award Advace HE fellowships evidenced against the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) 2011. All applications for Advance HE fellowship submitted through LEAP before the 31 August 2024 should be evidenced against the UKPSF 2011.
The final deadline for applications evidenced against UKPSF 2011 is Thursday 20 June 2024.
A revised University of Manchester Advance HE fellowship scheme will launch in September 2024. This revised scheme will be aligned with the Professional Standards Framework 2023.
Submitting your fellowship application
All applications for Advance HE fellowship submitted through LEAP must include:
- Application - introduction, case studies and reference list
- Mapping exercise
- Supporting statements
Application
The body of your applicatoin for Advance HE fellowship submitted through LEAP should be made up of:
- An introduction
- Reflective case studies
- Reference list
You can choose whether you would prefer to submit your application as either a written application or a pre-recorded presentation.

Important information
- All presentations should be submitted as pre-recorded videos or narrated PowerPoint presentation - Guidance on producing a recorded or narrated presentation
- Please note that assessors will stop reading or watching an application that is more than 10% over the maximum word or time limits in the table.
- Word or time limits do not include the mapping exercise, reference list or supporting statements.
Mapping Exercise
The mapping exercise enables you to clearly demonstrate where your experience maps to the relevant Descriptor of the UKPSF. It should signpost the assessor’s to pages in your written portfolio or slides in your oral presentation where you have evidenced against each specific criteria.
Please note we will continue to use the UKPSF 2011 until 1st September 2024.
- Those applying for Associate Fellow should map their experience to Descriptor 1 of the UKPSF.
- Those applying for Fellow should map their experience to Descriptor 2 of the UKPSF.
- Those applying for Senior Fellow should map their experience to Descriptor 3 of the UKPSF.
- Those applying for Principal Fellow should map their record of educational impact to Descriptor 4 of the UKPSF.

Your mapping exercise should follow the advice in the below templates and use a font size no smaller than 10.

Supporting statements
Your application should include supporting statements (or references) that corroborate your application and support your application for AdvanceHE fellowship. Each supporting statement must be unique and be written from first-hand experience of your teaching and support for learning.
Supporting statements should be from someone who has a good awareness of your teaching and learning practice and can be from a senior colleague, line manager/supervisor, peer or a learner. We recommend that you contact potential referees as early as possible to check whether they are willing to write a supporting statement for you.
Applications for Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow must include two supporting statements. We recommend that at least one supporting statement is from someone internal to the University. Supporting statements can be provided as a reference letter or referees can complete the LEAP referee report form.
Applications for Principal Fellow must include three supporting statements. For Principal Fellow, at least one of the supporting statements must be from a colleague external to the University and at least one referee must hold an AdvanceHE fellowship or National Teaching Fellowship.

Upcoming deadlines
The upcoming deadlines for the academic year 2023/24 are:
- Thursday 20 June 2024 (final opportunity to submit your application using the UK PSF 2011)
Applications should be submitted via the online submission form by 11:45pm on the submission deadline. Each element of your application must be uploaded separately.

If you are submitting via a bespoke pathway, you should consult your local guidance for information about upcoming deadlines and how to submit your application. Bespoke pathways include LEAP for NHS, LEAP for Clinical Debrief Tutors, LEAP for FSE GTAs, LEAP for PASS Leaders, Peer Mentors and Student Coordinators.
