Maria Canal (School of Biological Sciences)

Maria’s Teaching Award submission detailed how, over the years, she has consistently championed inclusivity at the institutional level and beyond. Maria’s approach, based on best practice in the field, has involved the development of a strategy to address awarding gaps, which includes:

1) development of students’ academic skills,
2) inclusive teaching, assessment and sense of belonging, and
3) student partnership.

Ultimately, by fostering a more inclusive and equitable learning environment, Maria’s goal is to ensure equity of student outcomes.
