Manchester Gold Staff Career Mentoring Programme

Manchester Gold

Manchester Gold is a University of Manchester (UoM) staff mentoring scheme. It is organised by the Talent Development Team, and has been running since 2010 - in this time,  thousands of colleagues have taken part in the scheme and benefitted from it. It is open to UoM colleagues at all levels and in any type of role including Teaching, Research, Professional Services, Technical etc.

The scheme supports career development by connecting the Mentee applicant with a volunteer Mentor who has greater skills or experience relevant to their development goals. You can apply to be a Mentor, Mentee, or both.

Find out more about being a Mentor here, or watch a recorded Information session here. There's more information on what you can expect as a Mentee too on this page.

Applications for the Autumn cycle are now open!

While most applicants are successfully matched, there are occasions where suitable matches are not available. All applicants will be provided with an update by early November.

Relationships

Relationships will run from November 2025 - August 2026. Following a successful match, you will be supported throughout your mentoring relationship. First time Mentees and Mentors join the scheme every year and there are events, training and resources available to support all participants.
