In our journey to becoming a digital University, we have partnered with Microsoft adoption specialists 365Tribe, to create the Microsoft 365 Digital Champions Network. Members of the network commenced a twelve-month training programme in January 2022, and are currently learning about all the cloud-based apps that form part of Microsoft 365 (M365).

If you are a member of staff or a researcher and have a question about M365 you can now search for your local M365 Digital Champion for support to find out the answer. There are over 370 Digital Champions in our community for you to connect with, representing disciplines from across the University.

The Digital Champions are receiving training in all aspects of M365. Why not search the community to find out who in your work team is a Champ and reach out for some top tips!

On our handy site you will also find lots of content to help you become more familiar with M365 applications, such as SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive, including videos and hints and tips.

What is the M365 Digital Champions Network?

Working in partnership with 365Tribe, a Microsoft accredited partner, we are delivering a structured twelve-month champion training and development programme. Staff and researchers have been chosen from around the University, from all roles and grades. They have joined a welcoming and positive community and will become experts in all the Microsoft 365 tools, enabling them to provide peer support and guidance in their local area and the wider organisation.

The training covers core business scenarios, upskilling the Digital Champions on new and existing digital tools, and developing the soft skills to help them support their business areas to adopt new ways of working with Microsoft 365.

This includes Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, OneDrive, Planner, Forms and many more, as well as improving skills in more familiar products like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, helping our M365 Digital Champions and you to learn, work smarter and more efficiently, and have fun whilst doing it!

Can I still apply?

The M365 Digital Champions are on a twelve-month training programme, which commenced in January 2022. If you are interested in joining, please do register for the waiting list by contacting the team at: digital.champions@manchester.ac.uk

The training programme welcomes interest from staff and researchers from all areas of the University.

Further phases may also be introduced if the demand is there.

How will the programme be delivered?

The programme is being delivered remotely by our external partners, 365Tribe via Microsoft Teams.

Our Champions have access to an online library of resources that they can share with their colleagues to support them. The Champions also have personal support from our partners throughout the twelve-month training programme with monthly webinars, online resources and one-to-one support from their dedicated team of trainers.

What is the programme all about?

  • A bespoke, fully customised programme run by Microsoft Certified Adoption Specialists 365Tribe.
  • A network of like-minded colleagues helping each other grow and learn in a variety of ways (we have a fully supported ‘Ask the Experts’ Channel too).
  • Monthly webinars, latest tips and tricks posts and a library of up-to-date videos designed to keep you engaged and in the know.
  • Champions will work within their teams to create case studies, best practice guidance and training collateral specific to their area and, where relevant, the wider University.
  • Complete topic challenges and knowledge checks to earn digital badges to demonstrate capability – as and when the Digital Champions want.
  • People of all existing knowledge levels are participating (not just Tech experts!!).
  • Typically requires around 2 hours a week time investment from the Digital Champions (supported by their manager) and this can be done flexibly to accommodate peaks and troughs in workload.
