How do I become a supervisor?

All of our postgraduate researchers are allocated a main supervisor and co supervisor. We generally try to ensure that both supervisors have some expertise in the subject matter of the thesis but this is not always possible or necessary. The allocation of work between a main and a second supervisor is recorded in Campus Solutions and may be 50:50; 60:40; 80: 20 etc.

Colleagues are generally expected to have no more than four full-time PhD students at any time where they are acting as main supervisor. Where you are acting as a co-supervisor with joint responsibility for a research student, you are expected to have no more than five students.
