End of award
There are a number of steps which need to be taken at the end of a grant. Of particular importance are the end of award reports and financial statements. Failure to adhere to the funder's requirements could result in funds not being released or event an ineligibility to apply for further grants until any issues are resolved.
The Research Operations team and Research Finance will be able to assist you in ensuring that you meet the funder's requirements.
End of award report
During the course of the award, the funder may have reporting requirements, including uploading outputs to Researchfish and submitting data to the UK Data Service.
At the end of the report, some funders also require a full writting report on the running of the grant, including outcomes, output, financial matters and any plans or future collaborations which may emerge from the grant.
This report, if required, must be completed by the PI. Should you have any queries about the contents of the report, please liaise with the SoSS Research Ops team and Research Finance.
Failure to submit the report or to complete Researchfish requirements may result in a PI becoming ineligible for further grants or grant funds being subject to retention by the funder.
Final expenditure statement (SFRO)
At the end of the award, Research Finance will prepare a financial expenditure statement/report for submission to the funder. The report is used to reconcile the actual expenditure with the payments made and ensure that all spend complied with the funders requirements.
If the financial expenditure statement is not submitted within a specified period at the end of the grant, the funder may recover a proportion of the expenditure incurred on the grant.
Research Finance will prepare the financial statement, but are likely to require input from the PI and SoSS Research Operations team to ensure that funds spent have been allocated to the correct Task Codes and deal with any queries as to what funds have been spent on what items.
The financial statement must be approved by the PI prior to submission.
