Diversifying leadership secondments in FSE

As part of its commitment to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA), the Faculty wants to improve the diversity of its leadership.

In the absence of a formal mechanism that enables staff to develop their leadership skills to meet the criteria required for many leadership roles, colleagues often find themselves unable to progress to leadership positions.

‘Diversifying leadership secondments’ is a new type of academic leadership development initiative that will enable participants to work on important real-life projects, supported by mentoring, practical training and bespoke development as identified in collaboration with People & OD and Staff Learning and Development.

Recognising significant underrepresentation, the pilot will focus on applications from ethnic minority colleagues. Applications will be accepted from late December, and the pilot will launch in early 2023. Further details on the application process will follow shortly.
