Committees

Within the Faculty there are a number of committees that are specifically related to teaching and learning. Each of the groups, their representaiton and some informaiton about them is included below.

Distance Learning Group

Chaired by the Associate Dean for Online and Flexible Learning, the group considers all matters concerning the provision of distance/online learning within the Faculty and the relationship between University of Manchester Worldwide (UMW) and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Three meetings are held each academic year and queries relating to the group should be addressed to the secretary Linda Mulvey.

Faculty Forum

Chaired by the Associate Dean for Student Engagement, the group meets twice per year.

Any queries should be addressed to Amal Al-Amin.

New Academics Programme Committee

Chaired by the Faculty Academic Lead for the New Academics Programme, the committee addresses all matters concerning the organisation, delivery and development of the FSE New Academics Programme (NAP) including the mentoring of probationary staff.

The committee meets three times per academic year.  Any queries regarding the NAP committee should be addressed to the secretary Elaine Sheehan.

Recruitment and Intake Management Group

Chaired by the Faculty Head of Teaching Learning and Student Experience, the remit of the group is to provide leadership and coordinate activity in relation to the marketing, recruitment and intake of students to taught programmes within the faculty.

SoNS and SoE Teaching Learning and Student Experience Committee

Chaired by the respective School Head of Education the committees are responsible for the development, promotion and monitoring of the School’s teaching and learning strategy and for the student experience, as determined by the operational priorities of the Teaching College. It has responsibility for the oversight of all taught provision across the School.

The committees meet fortnightly with ad hoc joint meetings of the STLSECs of both schools also held in place of some fortnightly meetings.

Teaching Academy Committee

Chaired by the Associate Dean for the Teaching Academy, the group meets twice per semester.

Any queries relating to the Teaching Academy Committee should be addressed to the secretary Linda Mulvey.

Teaching College Leadership Team

Chaired by the Vice Dean of Teaching, Learning and Students, the team oversees all matters for recruitment and intake, teaching and learning quality, teaching academy and student experience.

Meetings take place monthly and queries regarding TCLT should be addressed to the secretary Clare Barry
