Become an ally

Allies are defined as individuals who believe that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people should experience full equality in the workplace.

All staff can become an ALLOUT ally. As an ally you are asked to:

  • Show visible support to the LGBT+ community;
  • Be familiar with the work of the LGBT+ Staff Network Group ALLOUT;
  • Have knowledge of the University’s different pieces of guidance for LGBT+ staff;
  • Feel comfortable discussing LGBT+ issues;
  • Know where to signpost LGBT+ staff to;
  • Support the annual Stonewall application.

Allies can go further by engaging with the activities of ALLOUT and attending or offering support for the events that take place throughout the year.

You can choose to be an LGBT+ ally or a specific ally for a particular group within the LGBT+ community.

Training and support is available and you can book your place on the training catalogue.
