Stress at Work Support Group

Stress at Work image

This is a group that was due to launch in March with a series of face-to-face group meetings, which has rapidly had to adapt to the developing response to the Covid-19 outbreak. Instead of meetings on campus, the group activity will now take place via a WhatsApp* group and regular online meetings via video conferencing. The group will revert to its original format once we are back working on campus.

This group is aimed at any member of staff at the University who is experiencing stress.
The group is based on a model of peer support and will be run by a regular facilitator who has experience of participating in groups and has themselves had relevant personal experience.
The ethos of the group is to provide a safe and supportive environment for participants to talk openly about their difficulties. Participation in the group and the content of any group discussion will be entirely confidential, subject to ground rules relating to the safety and care of group participants.
The running of the group is supported by the University Counselling service and routes for individual support will be highlighted when deemed appropriate.

If you would like to join the group, please contact equalityanddiversity@manchester.ac.uk for your name to be added to the confidential mailing list, and the facilitator forward you further details.

*personal phone numbers are only used for the purposes of the group, not recorded anywhere and members can only make contact via the group, not to individuals.  Any person leaving the group will have their number deleted from any conversations.
