From productivity to playlists…

12 May 2020

How our colleagues and student content ambassadors are supporting our students in their transition to studying and living at home

Our Student Communications and Marketing team in the Directorate for the Student Experience has been hard at work supporting students along every step of their transition to studying and living at home.

“From productivity to pandemic playlists, we've created tailored editorial content and worked closely with students across all platforms to find out what content they need from us in these unusual times,” explains Student Communications and Marketing Manager, Jen Boden.

“Our student newsletters have had a bit of a shake-up, moving to a Tuesday publish to allow us to be more responsive to weekend and Monday updates. Click engagements have increased for all year groups at an average of 4%, and unique open rates have gone up more than 10% across the board.

“As well as this, we’ve worked on setting up support pages and resources for online teaching and learning hosted on the Student Support website, and worked closely with the Insight Team to help conduct a student census to identify those students who are still on campus. And with so many critical messages requiring to be sent to students, the team has managed all student e-shot communications too.

“Finally, with the intention of driving conversation and building a sense of community with our students, we set up a Facebook group, Students at Home, as a space to share tips and advice on adjusting to our new way of living – you can check it out here. The group is run by student helpers and content ambassadors, and has gained over 530 members in just under a month.”
