Getting Active at Work and Beyond: What's on offer?

The University of Manchester Sport team offers a range of ways to help colleagues stay active, support wellbeing and build movement into the working week. Here’s a quick guide to what’s available.

Active Manchester memberships for University Colleagues

Whatever your fitness level, an Active Manchester membership gives you access to the gym and group exercise classes at the Armitage Sports Centre in Fallowfield and the Wellbeing Studios on Oxford Road.

A 12-month membership costs £140 — that’s just £11.67 per month. Pay-as-you-go options are also available.

You can book in-person classes on campus or join online sessions via Zoom.

Activate your commute

Build activity into your commute by cycling or running to campus. Find out more about cycling or email umrun@manchester.ac.uk for running information.

Interested in joining the University Active Commuter Community?

The Active Commuter Community is a colleague network for those who walk, wheel, run or cycle to work. The community offers a chance to swap tips, meet like-minded colleagues, support one another and help shape the future of active travel at the University. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist, an occasional walker or simply looking for ways to make your commute work better for you, the community can help.
