Annual strobic fan maintenance (January 2024)

All lab users must familiarise themselves with the schedule of activity and ensure experimental work is made safe before their allocated service date

Between Monday, 8 – Wednesday 10 January 2024, annual maintenance will be undertaken to service local extract systems across Engineering Buildings A&B and York Street Building technical spaces.

Due to the nature of this work, fume cupboards and extract systems which rely on strobic fans will be unavailable whilst this work takes place. Work will progress through the buildings in stages in order to minimise disruption and downtime as much as possible, and to ensure each space is only affected for one working day.

If you work or undertake research activity inside a technical space in MECD, please ensure you follow these simple steps below to ensure this work can be carried out safely and effectively.

• Familiarise yourself with the schedule of activity so you know which day your lab will be affected
• Ensure all experimental work is made safe by 5:00pm at the latest, the day before your allocated service date.
• Ensure all fume cupboards and extract systems are not in use during your allocated maintenance period.
