Notification process

The vast majority of staff registering with the DSO give their consent for us to notify HR and Occupational Health that they have registered for support with the DSO and the support that they are being provided with.

However, disabled staff have the right to limit the information which is shared about their disability.  All staff who choose to register with the DSO are asked to sign a consent form which gives them options for varying levels of disclosure. 

The benefits of disclosure are explained to individual members of staff, but some do choose to limit this information.

Procedure for notifying HR and Occupational Health about disabled staff

The DSO uses a two stage process for notifying HR and Occupational Health about support provided by the DSO and adjustments agreed.  

The first notification sent is generic, and simply makes you aware that the individual has registered for support.  
The second notification is more detailed, and will inform you about the support/adjustments which have been/are in the process of being arranged.

HR and Occupational Health contacts for notification from DSO

All notifications are sent to the individual member of staff’s HR Manager and the Consultant Occupational Health Physician’s secretary in an encrypted email format.
