Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL / APEL)

The University has an enabling framework to allow subject areas to apply Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) where appropriate, and/or to apply Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) where appropriate. The Principles and Guidance on the Accreditation of Prior Learning set out an introduction and definitions, maximum amounts of credits which can be allowed for APEL, the main principles and the application process for the consideration of APEL applications. An update has been made to the above document in September 2019 to amend the figure for the maximum number of credits which can be awarded under AP(E)L for the Postgraduate Certificate, relating to the move to 20 credit units for UMW courses.
