An overview of the events for mentors and mentees on Manchester Gold 2024-2025 will be provided once applications close. Mentors and mentees will be informed of available events once matched.

Welcome Event for Mentors

An event to welcome mentors and provide an overview of the programme. In this session we will cover expectations of your role as a mentor, how to get the most from your role, and the support that is available to you on the programme.

Welcome Event for Mentees

An event to welcome mentees and provide an overview of the programme. In this session we will cover the role of mentoring to support development, expectations of you as a mentee, setting your goals and objectives, and how to get the most from your mentoring relationship. 

Mentor Skills Workshop

This workshop is to support colleagues who are both new or experienced mentors to develop or refresh their skills. In this session we will explore mentoring in this context, look at different styles of mentoring and the importance of a non-directive approach, starting and ending a mentoring relationship, questioning techniques and implications for virtual mentoring relationships.

Career Health Check for Mentees

This session for mentees will introduce the principles around Career Management and explore how you can take control of your own career trajectory. We begin with reflecting on where you see your career or position right now, then clarify where you might want to be, and then introduce some tools to get started on taking steps forward.

Mentee Get Togethers

These sessions are to enable mentees to access support, guidance and feedback on their mentoring relationships. This is a confidential space for mentees to come together and share their learning and experience, facilitated by a member of the Learning & Organisational Development Team. Booking in advance is essential.

Celebration & Close Event

This event is for mentors and mentees to bring the programme to a close, and celebrate achievements from the programme. In this session we will hear real experiences from a mentor and mentee, consider personal growth and development gained, and look forward to opportunities for the next years programme.
