Senate elections 2013

Further to the recent call for nominations, the following two members of the academic and research staff in the Faculty of Life Sciences are declared elected, unopposed, with effect from 1 September 2013, there being no requirement for a ballot:

Faculty of Life Sciences

  • Professor Simon Lovell
  • Dr Caroline Bowsher

Both will serve for three years, to 31 August 2016.

As there were more nominees than places available ballots were required in the Faculties of MHS, EPS and Humanities.

These were held on online from 12pm on Monday, 11 February 2013 to 12pm on Monday, 25 February 2013.

Following the ballots, the following nominees in each Faculty are declared duly elected:

Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences 

Professor Mike Barnes, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering 
Professor Philippa Browning, School of Physics and Astronomy
Dr Sarah Cartmell, School of Materials
Dr Peter Mitchell, School of Physics and Astronomy

Each will serve from 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2016.

Seven nominations were submitted for the four places available and 26% of staff members on the electoral roll participated in the election.

Faculty of Humanities 

Dr Mark Elliot, School of Social Sciences
Professor David Law, School of Arts, Languages and Cultures
Professor Uma Kothari, School of Environment and Development

Each will serve from 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2016.

Dr James Garratt, School of Arts, Languages and Cultures

Dr Garratt will serve from 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2015.

Ten nominations were submitted for the four places available and 40% of staff members on the electoral roll participated in the election.

Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences 

Professor Colin Sibley, Institute of Human Development, School of Medicine 
Dr Michael Donmall, Institute of Population Health, School of Medicine
Dr Emma Dean, Institute of Cancer Sciences, School of Medicine
Dr Penelope Stanford, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work

Each will serve from 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2016.

Seven nominations were submitted for the four places available and 23% of staff members on the electoral roll participated in the election.
