Applications open for Humanities wellbeing bids 2025/26
13 Nov 2025
The Faculty has launched another opportunity for colleagues to bid for funding to support a wellbeing activity.
The Faculty are pleased to launch another opportunity for staff to bid for funding to support a wellbeing activity. Bids can be for small groups or cross Departments/Schools. Funding will be allocated according to impact, scope, inclusivity and sustainability.
Entry Guidelines
Who can enter?
Bids will be open to any member of Humanities PS and Academic staff (including PGRs).
What applications will be successful?
Applications will be looked upon favourably in relation to inclusivity, support for vulnerable groups and cross School and Faculty participation, where activities are not already available to staff/PGRs.
Before submitting your bid, and to avoid disappointment, please consider the following:
- Check if the activity is already available to staff/PGRs on campus, i.e. through University of Manchester Sport
- Only minimal funding towards Food on Campus catering will be considered
- Funding for travel is not available
- Payments for staff/PGR time is not available
Award categories
The activity needs to be linked to any of the University’s Six Ways to Wellbeing. These are:
- Connect: Make contact with the people around you
- Be Active: Discover an activity you enjoy, being active makes you feel good
- Take Notice: Be aware of the world around you
- Learn and Discover: Make time to try something new
- Give: Do something for a friend, colleague or stranger
- Be healthy: Look after yourself, make healthy choices
Taking care of our body and mind is always important, but even more so now, during these challenging times.
How much can I bid for?
It is anticipated that the range of bid can be as little as £50 or more for larger projects.
Are there any expectations of me if I am successful?
Where appropriate, you will be asked to document your activity with photographs and provide a short write-up of your activity on completion, in order for it to be considered for inclusion in the Humanities eNews, or other communication channels.
How to apply
To apply for funding, please complete the bid for funding form by Thursday, 20 November.
Once the bid applications are received, each one will be carefully considered by a wellbeing sub-group. Applicants (both successful and unsuccessful) will be contacted before the end of the year.
